Anecdote; friends step kid didn't go to preschool or kindergarten because he was living with his grandmother way out in the county. Also didn't spend much time with kids his age. Beginning of first grade he was out sick every other week.

Anecdotally, I've heard this said about homeschooled kids in general back in the 90s/00s.
