You are taking about a specific apication of NFTs which links to images. NFTs are a standard for non-fungible tokens and it was just one implementation (images) of that standard that resulted in mania and speculation, but that doesn't mean all NFTs represent images.

Agree, an NFT can also represent somebody dumb enough to buy an NFT, or the spouse that left them.
