These all started as the equivalent of Amazon brands and went legit after getting a reputation for relative quality. Anker especially
- solardev 3y agoNot Dalian Wanda, I don't think? They started in Chinese real estate and now own much of Hollywood https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanda_Group https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanda_Group Edit: Actually, I don't think DJI and Haier were Amazon brands either. DJI was bootstrapped by a college kid's family after transitioning from selling electronic parts. Haier was in SE Asia before the US. Anker was though. Along with Aukey, RavPower, Mpow... some of those were eventually kicked off though, I think.
- ulfw 3y agoYou're spot on. https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/16/22536976/amazon-ravpower-battery-charger-removed-amazon https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/16/22536976/amazon-ravpower-...
- silisili 3y agoEh, not really Haier so much. Their namesake came from a joint effort with Liebherr in the 80s, and they've pretty much been legit since.
- ulfw 3y agoNo they didn't. What are you talking about?! DJI has zero to do with anything amazon. Da-Jiang Innovations started with mainland students at HKUST almost twenty years ago and then moved to Shenzhen. No amazon whatever marketplace back then. Da Lian Wanda group is a property developer and cinema owner etc in China that sells neither houses nor cinemas on amazon. Haier as a name has been around since Liebherr JV'ed with Qingdao refrigerator in 1984. Amazon was founded ten years later! Please don't use LLMs to post on here. There need to be at least a minimum of truth or facts when posting.
