One wishes the goverment's messaging had been more informed by science and less by wishful thinking and the "needs of the economy". I still hear Atul Gawande pontificating in Summer 2020 on NPR about the "pandemic of the unvaccinated" against better knowledge, because it is known that immunity against coronaviruses is fleeting, an injected vaccine is not sterilizing and coronaviruses mutate rapidly. If you habitually lie to people in the pursuit of your own interest you've pissed away their goodwill, and you won't ever have it again. It's a case of sleeping around and playing surprised that your wife won't have you back.
