We use INI files to configure our on-premises product. Four INI files to be precise. Database connection url, server hostnames, ports, various Boolean and debug flags, and even CSV string arrays. To this day not a single customer complaint or even support questions with regards to the INI files. Most of our customers are on Windows but we also support Linux with the same config scheme.
