Unnecessary cynicism because in science and research spending, there are a lot of tightly implemented controls (which makes sense). I think perhaps you're conflating this scenario with defense spending accountability, which is loosey-goosey by design (which also makes sense, I think).
- chiefalchemist 3y agoI'm not confused. Certainly not as much as Uncle Sam. Consider the source article. Why didn't the "tightly implemented controls" *prevent* this? It didn't. Uncle Sam is just as human as the rest of us. In fact, Aunt History would argue even more flawed. Please, let's stop being so naive. It's not working.
