- x86x87 3y agoIt was called OpenTF or OpenTerraform. Hashicorp might have had an issue with using the name Terraform.
- lolinder 3y agoIt was never called OpenTerraform, they knew enough to avoid that as an obvious trademark problem. It sounds like after consulting with lawyers they determined even OpenTF was too close [0]. - oneplane 3y agoIndeed. While I don't "like" the name just yet, it's already pretty recognisable yet not "Terraform"-ish in branding. I suppose that's also a bit of a downside since Terraform is such a brilliant name for the thing that it does. We pretty much talk in terms of "let's terraform a new environment" at places where we use it.
