Guide to searching and annotating text on maps
- joshuanapoli 3y agoI have a similar problem: reading engineering drawings.
- is_true 3y agoThis is great. I often search old maps because I do some metal detecting and I've been thinking about building a system to find similar maps based on the entities (places) in them. Here's the system doing the "magic": https://knowledge-computing.github.io/mapkurator-doc/#/docs/introduction https://knowledge-computing.github.io/mapkurator-doc/#/docs/... It would be neat to be able to filter between cities/places and streets.
- choult 3y agoBecause it wasn't wholly obvious to me, this documentation is for the work available on https://www.davidrumsey.com/ https://www.davidrumsey.com/
- fumeux_fume 3y agoIf you need to detect text on a map for adding annotations and exporting to GeoJSON, you can get started using this tool: https://github.com/machines-reading-maps/Tutorials-Newsletters/wiki/Automatic-annotation-with-mapKurator https://github.com/machines-reading-maps/Tutorials-Newslette...
- edwcross 3y agoI don't understand how to contribute to fix OCR errors. Even after registering and logging in, after searching a word and clicking on the image, then getting the annotation in the viewer, it does not show the "Edit | Confirm" buttons as they appear in the screenshot from the documentation. So I can see the annotation and its automatic transcriptions, but I can neither edit nor confirm it.
