Schneider Electric warns that existing datacenters aren't buff enough for AI
- n2dasun 3y agoWell, it definitely helps Schneider if organizations upgrade their datacenters.
- Symbiote 3y ago> The first involves power delivery and calls for replacing 120/280V power distribution with 240/415V systems Is 120V used in datacentres in North America? Since domestic plugs are mostly irrelevant, I'd assumed everything would use 240V (or whatever is the approximate value there). Datacentres in Europe etc use ~240V to each server's PSU, using IEC C13 or C19 plugs. The rack PDU (big power strip) or UPS connects to 3 phase 415V providing three groups of single phase 240V sockets.
- benglish11 3y agoI can’t imagine any commercial data center here in the US using less than 240V
- polski-g 3y agoUS data centers use 208V
- thesh4d0w 3y ago> The paper calls for 48U, 40-inch deep cabinets that can support static capacities of just under two tons – for reference, that's about 208 adult badgers – to make room for the larger footprint associated with AI systems and PDUs. that's a lot of badgers
