- dang 3y agoWe have to go by effects, not intent, which means the burden is on the commenter to disambiguate their intent. If the topic is divisive and the intention is not inflammatory, that may require some care. That's why the HN guidelines say "Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive."
