Show HN: Swirl – An AI-Powered Open-Source Search Engine
Swirl is the Open-Source Platform for Enterprise Search with AI (LLMs and GPT). Swirl can connect to many data sources and provide search functionality.
If your product has an API then it can be searched with Swirl.
Like, SQL Databases, NoSQL, Slack, Google Bard, Open AI, Huggingface, Spacy, Teams, Outlook, Calendar, ApaceSolr, etc.
All the search providers, and all the data siloes. It can then use Chat GPT or any other LLM to perform RAG(Retrieval Augmentated Generation) on your content.
- laura_126726 3y agoThis looks good. I'm glad that people are looking into open source search. Can this be self hosted, if I have my website how can I search from my content?
- srbhr 3y agoThanks, yes indeed it's an awesome platform to integrate search. Yes, it can be self-hosted. Integration is easy, you can check in the docs. You can search and get AI based answers from your website. Link to Wiki: https://github.com/swirlai/swirl-search/wiki https://github.com/swirlai/swirl-search/wiki
- niklav_agei 3y agoIs this an alternative to Algolia or Elastisearch? Also, I'm interested in contributing.
- srbhr 3y agoYes, this sits in the same space. But the capabilities are beyond those two. Algolia is not open-source. And Swirl can connect to various data sources event to Slack Chat, Teams, Outlook and provide search. Best case would be to perform RAG. If you want to contribute, I'd suggest you take a look at the GitHub but also join the Slack Community. Best case would be to learn and provide an integration with it.
- grazio 3y agoHow can I Integrate any LLM into it ? And what all LLMs are you planning to support ? Is there any support for LangChain or Llama Index ?
- srbhr 3y agoCurrently, it has the support for ChatGPT. And if you would like to work on and support lang chain then I'd like to help and contribute to it along the way.
- espears 3y agoHello! Great question...we recently had someone ask this in a GitHub Discussion post as well. You might find Sid's replies on this helpful: https://github.com/swirlai/swirl-search/discussions/597 https://github.com/swirlai/swirl-search/discussions/597
