Brein is the Dutch copyright Gestapo.
- candiodari 3y agoIronically they are much more effective and capable than the National Cyber Security Centre. Because some kids posting dutch books for free, mostly books that aren't for sale at any price, is a much bigger problem than people losing their savings due to cybercrime, hospitals getting shut down by (probably) Russian gangs for ransom or women getting killed after ex'es tracked them using their cell phones (after those women reported this to the police a dozen times). And, of course, what is not currently being reported on much, but the utter defeat of all Dutch police efforts to control drug distribution (currently cocaine and fentanyl), which are also running into their total inability to track things online (or in the mail ...). That sort of thing they refuse to pay anyone for. My issue is that these actions by BREIN effectively destroy those books permanently, because a few small companies dream that by doing so they can make slightly more money. This has systematically been proven wrong, making this effort by BREIN known to be 100% destructive. Needless to say, the same state is also failing to provide kids with learning books that they're legally obliged to provide. But law applies to kids (and parents), not to schools or the state. Clearly, all failures there, are the fault of all those horrible Dutch parents. And yet ... have you tried buying the normal dutch curriculum books without going through a school? Even if you want to do this as a parent ... good luck. You see, when it comes to problems in society, you must have priorities ... denying lots of people, mostly kids, access to books, that's what matters.
