AMD Linux Gaming Performance Largely Unchanged with Linux 6.6 Git
- sosodev 3y agoPerhaps the frametimes tell a different story? A single average value isn’t particularly useful for measuring gaming performance.
- dietr1ch 3y agoLargely unchanged, although CS:GO sees a 7% improvement in frame rate. I've seen good improvements with scheduler changes and pinning it to a subset of the cores to help keep the caches warm, but I didn't do a great job experimenting to understand the individual impact. The game is known to love cache, a jump to the 5800X3D led to a huge boost in it too IIRC, so I guess it just checks out, keeping your cache warm is good I guess, and it probably only makes a difference in CPU-bounded games.
