Show HN: Weekend Project - Scramble With Friends Solver (Python, plumb.js)
- sixtypoundhound 15y agoSharing some additional context: Latest installment of something I've been hacking on for fun. Best viewed using a regular computer with a modern browser. Enter a boggle grid and it gives you a list of words and shows you the path through the grid for each word. This was my first project using plumb.js to generate connection lines. The backend is Python (bottle.py). While the game itself is a mobile app, you actually need a second screen (a regular computer) to use the solver effectively - that was the key UI lesson that I learned from this exercise. You've got about two minutes per round, so it's pretty impossible to flip between screens on a mobile phone and get a respectable number of words down on the board. I intentionally didn't invest a lot of time in the mobile experience since most of the users won't be using mobile.
