Why the US? Why not some other part of your own uni?
I was able to do other subject modules for course credit as an undergrad, and helped with the research of a group in that area a little, and got my name on a paper.
Also I raised seed funding for a project in my main subject area that I worked on in parallel with my main course and the above.
Note: the above made me stand out a bit and I was thus unpopular at times... I still am. B^>
- Heidaradar 3y agoI go to Oxbridge but the research doesn't look like the best if I'm trying to publish some conference papers. I'll give it a try anyway, but the research in the US just looks much better.
- DamonHD 3y agoThere is a bunch of interesting ML stuff going on at Surrey, where I'm doing part-time PhD research now (not in ML, but thinking about it often, as it happens). Eg https://www.surrey.ac.uk/centre-vision-speech-signal-processing https://www.surrey.ac.uk/centre-vision-speech-signal-process... But I understand that it's not "not UK" that motivates the "US" question!
