Ask HN: What space-related APIs exist out there?
I know open notify API has json files for how many people are on the iss right now, and where it currently is located. These are excellent examples.
I also have NOAA KP Index API which is super interesting too.
NASA open API was a bit too much, and some of them seem dead.
I'm looking for small and easy APIs like these. Will be used as content for educational live coding sessions with teachers.
Do you know of any other such APIs?
- 11001100 3y agoWhy do you think NASA open Apis are dead? At least the APOD should be solid to work with: https://data.nasa.gov/Space-Science/Astronomy-Picture-of-the-Day-API/ez2w-t8ua https://data.nasa.gov/Space-Science/Astronomy-Picture-of-the... Another APIs I could find are these: - SpaceX: https://github.com/r-spacex/SpaceX-API https://github.com/r-spacex/SpaceX-API - The Space Devs - Launches & News: https://thespacedevs.com/ https://thespacedevs.com/ - Spacecrafts, Launchers, Customer Satellites and Centres: https://isro.vercel.app/ https://isro.vercel.app/ - Space Flight News: https://spaceflightnewsapi.net/ https://spaceflightnewsapi.net/
- hoyd 3y agoI found this: https://api.nasa.gov https://api.nasa.gov and looked into the exoplanet archive, which was interesting, fex: "Confirmed planets in the Kepler field" https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nstedAPI/nph-nstedAPI?&table=exoplanets&format=ipac&where=pl_kepflag=1 https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nstedAPI/n... but seems down? Didn't see the https://data.nasa.gov https://data.nasa.gov site, will look into that, thanks :-)
