True, but my impression is that large scale layoffs don't tend to be well targeted. It is almost impossible for them to be well targeted, just because of the needs for secrecy driving decisions into places far removed from day to day operations. Inevitably the new hires won't be the same roles, but plenty of them would fit the same resumes. :facepalm
