Mist: Mac utility that automatically downloads macOS Firmwares / Installers
- rootsudo 3y agoThis solves so many problems. I always did the manual usb image using dd in shell. Never thought to make it into an app and query apple servers. To be frank, you shouldn’t have too - even Microsoft provides iso for its current operating systems. And if you have MSDN, historical operating systems as well.
- alehlopeh 3y agoMacOS installers since at least Big Sur come with a utility for creating a bootable usb. No need to use dd.

- musicale 3y agoWhen did Apple start making it hard to download installers and security updates? Is there a good reason for this?
- out-of-ideas 3y agoi think it depends if you are just a pleb consumer that buys a macbook or have some sort of premium access, though it has always been a miserable process (and likewise there's always been a workaround to creating a usb/cd installer; 10.6 was the height of good-os and tolerable make your own installer; went down the drain every OS since)
