Myself, I could see the following developments: 1) More caps and work in it being powered by ambient light. 2) Taller, perhaps multi-stage. 3) Multiple paths that were somewhat random. Really, I think I am inventing a cat toy. When I was small, I had a racetrack game with just enough randomness to keep my cat completely fascinated.
