I have seen hundreds of comments way worse than this post in terms of a political soap box. I'm confused why you have singled out this post, which actually has news articles relevant to the topic.
What makes this comment better than the one we're discussing?

- dang 3y agoIt's not better! You might be assuming that we read everything; that is mistaken. Far too much is posted here for us to see it all. If you see a post that ought to have been moderated but hasn't been, the likeliest explanation is that we didn't see it. You can help by flagging it or emailing us at hn@ycombinator.com: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&query=likeliest%20explanation%20by%3Adang&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu... I should add, though, that a moderation reply like "could you please stop" is referencing not just one comment but a pattern of comments by that account. That's an important distinction. If we look at the account's history and see a bad comment as a one-off case, we might let it go (unless it's egregious); but if we look at the history and see that the account has been doing it repeatedly, we're going to ask them to stop because these are the things that really damage HN. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
