Tim Gurner apologises over call for more unemployment to fix worker attitudes
- belter 3y agoTim Gurner the management consultant...Walks into a corporate office for his first assignment... Tim Gurner: "Okay, everyone gather around. I've looked at the numbers, and we need to let some people go to improve efficiency." Employee 1: "So, who's getting fired?" Tim Gurner: "Let's start with whoever's in charge of the coffee machine. It made me a latte when I asked for an espresso. Totally unacceptable." Employee 2: "Um, that machine is self-service, sir."

- JohnFen 3y agoYeah, that's the standard "sorry, not sorry" sort of pseudoapology. He regrets nothing other than that more people can see what an unmitigated asshole he is and how it might have some adverse impact on his net worth.

- ogn3rd 3y agoCorrect, he's only trying to mitigate the damage caused by showing people who he (and the other wealthy folks) really is and how he thinks. This sort of shit is the equivalent to thought cancer.

- kramerger 3y ago40% unemployment basically means civil war. This guy is flat out wrong and out of touch with reality on so many levels.
- throwaway5959 3y agoHe meant a 40% increase in the current unemployment rate. Still a moronic thing to say.
- throwaway5959 3y agoHe has a history of these kinds of garbage views/comments. He’s sorry for the backlash, not sorry for his comments.
- duskwuff 3y agoFor instance, Gurner was also the "millennials could afford houses if they stopped eating so much avocado toast" guy: https://www.9news.com.au/national/melbourne-property-tycoon-hammers-millennials-over-spending-habits/f1e61616-94c2-4fa4-aa07-49a33f7bf842 https://www.9news.com.au/national/melbourne-property-tycoon-...
- wturner 3y agoThe take away should be for the working class to understand that the owner class is waging a perpetual war on them/us. Money and cultural assumptions are toolkits of social engineering. Workers realizing they have the power to mold society in their interests terrifies owners and we need to put the foot on the gas to move it forward in the direction of unions , democratization and worker owned production .
- sillywalk 3y agoA refreshingly honest sociopath.
- Rzor 3y agoWe actually need more openess from people like him, saying "like it is". It's going to do wonders for people's perception... eventually, I hope.
- smackeyacky 3y agoOh yeah, the more he says it the more people will realise just how stacked the deck of cards is. The shortsighted moron that he is doesn't understand he is a massive part of the problem that plagues much of the western world. Rent seeking, asset inflating, short sighted and arrogant to go with it. What happens to his property empire if the peons who live in his shoddily built crap shacks can no longer pay the rent?
