More than 160 Chinese scientists who worked at Los Alamos returned home, including one given grants worth $20 million by the US for research
Headline makes it sound like it wasn't Chineses scientists going home.
Interesting article, but basically a 2019-2020 story.
- rbanffy 3y agoA couple alternatives come to mind on this: 1- don't hire the best talent if they come from a country perceived as hostile 2- make a better offer from them to stay in the US 3- make them actually want to remain in the US despite the better financial and personal rewards of going back home Option 1 is clearly difficult to shape into something palatable (or legal), 2 seems doable with adequate funding (and other scientists would welcome a pay raise for themselves as well). Option 3 would be tricky - the US has some attractives, but has a lot of drawbacks for anyone who hasn't grown up there. Maybe a combo of 2 and 3 could work best.
