Show HN: Microphone Test
Hey HN, I recently bought a Razor laptop and put Ubuntu on it. After the initial set up I couldn't get the microphone to work. In the process of running a microphone test I saw that the domain itself was for sale, so I decided to pick it up and make a website that did exactly what I wanted. Hope you enjoy the simplicity of it. If there is any other suggestions please let me know
- rman666 3y agoGreat, something new to distract me from work!
- nadermx 3y agoThanks, I must say once I got the mic working I also had fun testing the microphone to get the modulation graph to behave that way.
- quickthrower2 3y agoThanks. I was tempted to build this since Windows has no decent microphone test (other than voice recorder!) and the other online ones are crappy. Here is my feature request: * It records your voice for 3 seconds * It stops and plays that back This tests your microphone, speakers, microphone quality and levels, audio quality and levels, internet connection all in one go.
- nadermx 3y agoDone, although it's rudimentary at the moment, but I added in your feature and a quick text explaining. So basically now if you start a test it records for the first 3 seconds and then displays a download link for the first 3 seconds.
- quickthrower2 3y agoHa ha that was quick! Thanks. On iOS it is actually echoing which is just as useful BUT you get acoustic feedback.
- nadermx 3y agoYou're welcome. The project was surprisingly fast to set up
- perilunar 3y agoNice! In Chrome (116) and Safari (16.5) on Mac the microphone button is shifted up and only the bottom of it is visible. Still works though.
- nadermx 3y agoFixed; That explains a lot, what I get for only checking in Firefox.
- jimmySixDOF 3y agoNice I was using mictests.com and I like this its clean and simple just works !!
