So sad to see Elon mindlessly repeating Chinese propaganda talking points.. like comparing Taiwan to Hawaii. I mean, in one way it’s fitting: historically Hawaii is a pretty egregious example of American colonialism. But a better comparison may be a country like New Zealand. Just because UK once ruled over New Zealand doesn’t mean anyone thinks it’s a good idea to let UK take New Zealand back with violence. And just as New Zealand is symbolically under the English Queen, if it’s so important for PRC that there’s “one China”, they could propose joining Taiwan in some kinds of symbolic union. But that’s not what it’s about. It’s about violent control. So they will never settle for anything less than full subjugation. We’ve seen the same with Elons rhetoric around Ukraine. He’s just mindlessly repeating exactly what Russia wants. Freeze the war (so Russia can regroup and regain its strength to take the rest of Ukraine in some years). I suppose he thinks it’s OK if dictatorships get to violently take any territory they want as long as it doesn’t belong to USA. We saw how well that kind of appeasement worked with Germany back in the day. If you don’t make a stand, violent imperial states will seek to grow as far as they can, until USA is eventually forced to get involved anyway, in what will then be a much larger and bloody war.
