Something about status and power dynamics, and how the current guard will never allow such a drastic change to the status quo because it jeopardizes their existence. Idk if they said this in the episode, but I believe this to be true, even if it were the most optimal economic arrangement. People’s desire for finding their local maxima prevents us from achieving a global maxima.
