I haven't written a lot in compiled languages, so maybe this is a dumb question, but are you actually saying that it takes an hour to compile your unity project? I thought that only happened with huge c++ codebases. How do you get any creative work done without quick iteration?
- bcrosby95 3y agoIf you want to test locally, you can just hit the "play" button in the Unity editor and it all happens pretty fast. We use this for building something you can install on an iOS/android device, or for putting up on the web for webgl.
- rahkiin 3y agoDistribution builds, especially to consoles, need full shader compilation of all variants in the build. This can take hours. For some pc games they also can prebuild some shaders for common hardware to speed up loading times.
