The problem is that floppy disks were replaced with another medium that did the same thing but better. You might think the same thing happened with the headphone jack, but my phone has a headphone jack and handles wireless audio just fine. We didn't gain wireless, we just lost wired.
- rrrrrrrrrrrryan 3y agoFloppies didn't get scratched like CDs do. For years, there were desktops that shipped with both a floppy drive and a CD drive. When Apple chose to abandon floppy drives (they did sell an external one), some people were initially upset, but everyone eventually moved on.
- bodge5000 3y agoFloppies to CDs is more like a comparison of 3.5mm and 6.3mm, because they both do the same thing but with different form factors and different advantages. Wireless audio performs the same base task as wired but it doesn't do the same thing.
