I've visited a wind farm and got a tour by one of the engineers who was involved with the permits and construction, and he told us that due to the population of several rare species of bats and birds, the turbine we were visiting couldn't operate at certain hours. If painting one of the blades black could reduce the non-operation hours, that would be a significant win for the operators.
