Burying the lead: "Restraining order also issued due to threats and harassment of Bungie employees."
The breakdown from the settlement is the financial penalties for what bungie is allowed to seek financial penalties, i.e. copyright infringement:
11. Plaintiff is entitled to statutory damages of $150,000.00 per infringed work, for a total of $300,000.00.
12. In addition, Plaintiff is entitled to statutory damages for each act of circumvention.
13. Defendant stipulates and agrees that, between each use of cheat software and each creation of a new account, Defendant engaged in at least 100 acts of circumvention.
14. Given that this likely undercounts the number of acts of circumvention in which Defendant engaged, Plaintiff is entitled to statutory damages of $2,000 per act of circumvention.
15. Judgment shall thus be entered against Defendant in the amount of $500,000.00.
But it's worth noting that there are no financial penalties for whatever this asshole was doing that lead to this order explicitly banning harassing, threatening, or stalking Bungie employees, or the prohibition of going within 1000 feet of any of their homes.
So while the $500k penalty for "copyright violation" might be excessive, I'm inclined to think the whole stalking and threatening people played into it.
