New Blood Test for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Has 91% Accuracy
- credit_guy 3y ago> However, the FSS evaluation could not easily separate the ME/CFS from the MS patients nor between different ME/CFS severities (p = 0.07). p = 0.07, nothing to see here.
- ThePowerOfFuet 3y agoWhat you are referring to fatigue evaluation levels when that wasn't the point of the paper? >These results demonstrate that Raman profiles of blood cells can distinguish between healthy individuals, disease controls, and ME/CFS patients with high accuracy (91%), and can further differentiate between mild, moderate, and severe ME/CFS patients (84%).
- credit_guy 3y agoBecause whatever the point of the paper is, it should come with a p-value. Those things you list don't come with a p-value. And why are they talking about accuracy? What is accuracy in this case? A test should tell you the false positive and false negative rate. You can say you can blend these two numbers but why would you do that? Especially if the relative sizes of the two arms of the trial are not consistent with the incidence rate of the syndrome in the real world?
