Ask HN: Gmail Smart Compose but for my entire OS?
Is there a tool that monitors what and how I type and offers Gmail Smart Compose–like text completion across my entire OS (macOS)?
For example, writing this post now I could start typing something like: “You know what would be great? Having this fe” and it would let me hit `tab` to complete the word “feature”.
- geoah 3y agoMacos sonoma and ios 17 i think include something like this. It’s pretty basic but I assume it will evolve over time. Look for “inline predictive text” on the new oses of apple.
- lispybanana 3y agoThanks! but configuring macOS to behave like I want it to is so painful I only “update to the new macOS” when I get a new machine! To my knowledge, macOS has no config or dotfile that can be dropped to restore the many customizations one acquires over time. I tend to first look for FOSS remedies.
