I noticed that, too. The first few seconds, absolutely not responding. And you're right. It's some background syncing. For me, it's the calendar that getting synced at each start and slowing everything down. It's not the emails / exchange. I think it has something to do with the group calendar and with the Microsoft account. If it would run completely local, w/o having some-/everything in the cloud, it would perform better.
