- skrebbel 3y agoWill never happen as long as the SQL team refuses to add pattern matching.
- vitiral 3y agoWhat does "add the English language" mean??
- sam_goody 3y agoParent is making fun of the fact that SQL is not a programming language similar to C and does not compete with it. It is like comparing the popularity of HTML vs. CSS. English is Turing complete and is meant to be processed by a human or AI compiler, but you wouldn't compare it with Javascript.
- wofo 3y agoMaybe using English as a programming language ("transpiled" to a lower level language using an LLM)?
- giardini 3y agoThe fact that one programs ChatGPT with the English (or other human) language perhaps.
- sam_goody 3y agoPig Latin should be counted, as it is an algorithmically altered language, which makes it comparable to a programming language And JSON, since it looks like programming spaghetti.
- Cthulhu_ 3y agoJSON and YAML are used as programming languages for e.g. Docker, expressing conditionals, variables, etc. I don't like it :p.
- dragonwriter 3y agoJSON and YAML aren't programming languages. You can build a programming language on top of them, just as Lisp is built on top of S-expressions, but the underlying data representation isn't a programming language alone.
- pjmlp 3y agoMost SQL dialects are full blown languages, so it isn't like what happens with HTML and CSS, regardless of the sarcasm.
