She needs it for some software at work so I decrapified as much as I could and decided to go along but it’s a never ending battle with Microsoft’s agressive force. I wouldn’t force her with Linux and Mac is not something I am familiar with.

  MacBook Air M2 should be the choice for any normal person who just needs to get normal work done. No politics, but clearly I've touched an insecurity here :/

      Unbased claim? I wouldn't call a stupid joke a claim LOL. It's an internet meme for god's sake and clearly some people really tight up their arse have been triggered by this dumb internet meme joke LMFAO. "Friend don't let friends... <insert thing here>" etc. Anyway, enjoy wrestling your own computer if it makes you happy. I have no qualms with that :)

    This is the worst answer. Office for Mac is horrible compared to the same for Windows, as is plenty of other very common software - if it runs on Mac at all. It's also much worse to administer from an enterprise perspective, so it's probably not supported by the wife's IT team, and if it is it probably would have some horrible software on it that makes it unusable.

      Sorry, with all due respect you are the first person who has ever claimed that Office doesn't work on a Mac. In fact, Office on Mac is notorious for being BETTER than on Windows, even Microsoft employees say so themselves.

        You must live in a mirror universe. Office on Mac is awful. Excel doesn't even have Power Query!

        Excel doesn't do half the Excel things, PowerPoint doesn't have reader mode, the list goes on. Anyone who thinks Office for Mac is any good hasn't used Office for Windows in 10 years.
