- hunglee2 3y ago'sanctions are working' Sanctions are diverting massive Chinese investment inward, funding a domestic supply chain for semi-conductors, which will give rise to global competitors for TSMC, ASML and the rest. As ASML CEO himself recently stated, 'it makes no sense to encourage (Chinese) innovation', this way if your objective is to maintain a technological lead. The magical thinking is owned by the author, whose copium / hopium has entirely replaced analysis.
- throwaway4good 3y agoI think it is the author doing the magical thinking. Obviously if Huawei was constrained on capacity they would not do a mass market phone but instead concentrate on AI chips and chips for supercomputers.
- simonblack 3y agoWhen a client chooses to 'buy-built' from you, never ever force him to 'roll his own'. Not only will you lose a paying customer, but you will be giving yourself a determined competitor who is very likely to put you out of business.
