This whole overachieving mentality is widely prevalent in the Asian American community. Every Asian kid from my generation was compared to their siblings, cousins, and peers relentlessly. It's been shown that those Asian kids can be great at anything. They're founders, CEOs, politicians, artists, musicians, writers, whatever. (Still working on athletics) I hope the next generation gets it a little better. It seems like they are. I never want to tell the next generation what my parents told me, which is that they had it harder and still could do better.
