It sounds like I disagree with your politics, but I completly agree with your analysis. Looking at the procedure and requiring Procedural Symmetry, would you agree with the procedure even if it was "used against you"? That is the foundation of rule of law.
(FYI, regarding DeSantis, I've never seen him describe LGB as offensive. I have seen his government describe literal porn, some literally describing pedophile behavior, in elementary school libraries as bad. He provides examples of the exact thing he is against and I've never seen him try to overreach that principle. I also agree that literal porn should not be in elementary schools.)

- kardianos 3y agoOkay, then for once I'd like someone says conservatives talk in dog whistles, to also come alongside and support removing the overtly vile things, and find common ground where there is common ground. But I don't see that. Those vile books are in elementary schools because someone put them there, and they aren't removed quickly because people continue to appear to want them there. Why?
- jncfhnb 3y agoWell for one, the folks speaking in dog whistles are completely aligned with the folks saying overtly vile stuff so I’m not sure what you’re asking. The “vile books” you describe generally contain less “vile” content than the Bible. They’re merely cherry picked to particular points of view.
- aaomidi 3y agoSo wait are you in support of free speech or not? Because it seems like you are when it interests you but you’re also trying to regulate what schools do? At most you have a right in your own school district - to voice your opinion. You don’t get to “ban” something you don’t like, especially in a government funded institution.
