> While Western carmakers fret over intense competition from Chinese rivals, major German auto suppliers told Reuters at the mobility show that they were eager to expand existing partnerships in China and provide those rising manufacturers with European-made parts.
Interesting strategy by the European automakers. How long do they think it will be until the Chinese industrial power houses make a replica of the European designed parts with several references in hand that were handily sold to them by the competitors themselves?
If Apple’s success shows vertical integration benefits in performance, profit margins and control, of course the Chinese auto industries would also want to do that. Are the German companies fools to think otherwise? Or do they think the Chinese companies are fools enough to not think about it?
