- jeffbee 3y agoHills are the exact reason to use the speed control. It drives me crazy that drivers don’t know how and when to engage it, go 50 up hills and 85 down the other side.
- lib-dev 3y ago50 up 85 down is the natural way to drive. It’s a waste of fuel to brake downhill (beyond reason).
- jeffbee 3y agoSolid argument for outlawing fossil fuels.
- theturtle32 3y agoLol. Yep, and not to mention regenerative braking on EVs actually recoups and stores the energy as it slows the vehicle's descent!
- quickthrower2 3y agoWhich you otherwise lose to friction and air resistance
- saagarjha 3y agoThis is also a problem for electric vehicles, just to a lesser extent.
- lib-dev 3y agoRight. But let’s make sure there’s a replacement first.
- bagels 3y agoStopping distances are increased when travelling downhill, so likely more dangerous.
- quickthrower2 3y agoClassic cruise control only applies throttle not brakes
- is_true 3y agoIt can brake with the engine (clutch)
- quickthrower2 3y agoDoes it? I never seen that. Usually even a slight downhill causes my CC to just not control the speed.
- is_true 3y agoI drive a toyota that does, you can hear the engine revving. I also drive a ford with a powershift (or powershit) and it only disengages the clutch
