How to negotiate your salary in the age of pay transparency laws
- cvccvroomvroom 3y agoHire a TC negotiation consultant with access to comp data. They can get you 20-40% more.
- elromulous 3y agoI've found the pay transparency to be very easily defeated. Companies can just post enormous ranges: "$50-$500k salary, actual salary dependent on applicant experience and qualifications" Also, it only forces companies to list the base salary, but especially in tech, that's just a portion of one's total comp. The real solution should have been this: if there are more than n people with that same role/position/level at the company (so as to preserve anonymity), the company must post the total comp distribution for that role.
- syndicatedjelly 3y ago> Many companies are comfortable with roughly 5% of their employees being paid over the maximum, according to Buckmaster. Very interesting, was not aware of this
- thebigspacefuck 3y agoWhat do you do if you make above the range that’s posted for the same job? Pretty sure this means either my company is lying about the range or trying to hire my less expensive replacement.
