Lithium batteries also have costs involved even though they have benefits. I feel that pumped 'hydro' energy storage with dense liquids will be more sustainable for power grids in the long run. There are also aspects of our current energy usage that cannot yet be performed by renewables, such as mass steel production and recycling of solar panels or wind turbines. R&D should be done to come up with fixes for these problems.
