- 93po 3y agoAll cops are bad because they volunteered to work for a system that is inherently harmful, thereby perpetuating it.
- micromacrofoot 3y agoThere's a fundamental design flaw with the way American police forces operate that makes ACAB practically factual. Qualified immunity, civil asset forfeiture, etc — abuse and immunity from consequences are built into the system.
- ryandrake 3y agoACAB stems from the police's tendency to always back each other, regardless of their behavior. If they would start policing their own coworkers' conduct, stopping their own from behaving badly, and testifying against each other when appropriate, the ACAB meme would die.
- micromacrofoot 3y agoYeah exactly, and in the above cases, this tendency has been enshrined as law.
- stemlord 3y agoI would say the person is not necessarily a bastard until they put on the uniform. Always exceptions, but we all have to work and unfortunately most honest people's professions today are ethically dubious to varying degrees. Especially in tech.
