I have been highly critical of using LLMs in places where they shouldn’t be used. With that being said, isn’t writing assistance the one thing we can all agree that they should be used for? I do think that declaring AI assistance is a good thing, but even if an author does not do so I don’t see a huge issue here. Sure, you can have your LLM generate bogus data, but you are willing to do this you probably were unethical before LLMs anyways.
