I like how thorough you are, even on a throwaway hacker news comment. I lived in Iowa for most of my life, so we're no stranger to a lot of this. I've never even thought of deers getting rabies, but it makes sense. We've had out fair share of horse and cow accidents around these parts. Them back hooves are deadly.
