U.S., Saudi, India, UAE hope to ink railway deal to connect Middle East at G20
- pseingatl 3y agoOdd article. The Saudi Railways Commission was formed during King Abdullah's reign. Around 2011-12 there was an agreement to connect KSA, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait by rail. Work started in the various countries (land reclamation on the Saudi-Bahrain side) but the project seems to have stalled. Money problems. There was talk of rebuilding the old Ottoman-era railway to connect with Jordan, but...crickets.
