I pretty much felt the same when I was a teenager. We're polluting the planet, destroying our habitat. We knew about climate change all the way back then. I'm gen X, and nothing much has changed. The only difference I can see is that not many people seemed to feel like that when I was a kid. It would make you some kind of hippy tree hugger. At least kids these days seem to be more aware of these things.
