- rabbits_2002 3y ago>Obesity affects nearly 42 percent of American adults, and yet, Dr. Engel said, “we have been powerless.” I don’t like this idea being pushed that obesity isn’t caused by eating too much food. Seems like a convenient delusion to sell more drugs.
- hulitu 3y agoYou are uninformed. I heard that food consisting only of sugar and fats has nothing to do with obesity. /s
- KetoManx64 3y agoI agree and disagree. It's not caused by eating too much food, it's caused by eating too much food that is not nutricious. If you look into the keto/carnivore communities, people are regularly eating just meat, eggs, butter and veggies for 3-5,000 calories daily and are healthier than most of the population of the United States. Reversing their diabetees, fixing their chronic fatigue issues, etc. Your body reacts and processes a a bowl of cereal very differently than a plate of steak. If you look at the history the of the human species, we evolved to eat meat and fats and only have sugar/sweets on very rare occasions. The american diet is stuffed to the brim with processed food and foods that are fat free and stuffed full of sugar to make it actually palatable for people to consume.
- hhhapz 3y agoWhile you're correct in the literal sense, there's still a bit more to it than just that. Given that this problem is so widespread, it is evident that just telling people to eat less doesn't work. Otherwise we wouldn't be here in the first place. However, with obesity at 42%, clearly a different approach to solving the issue is needed. Is there an alternative that can be implemented which will get people to eat less? Appetite suppressants seem to be quite promising all things considered.
