This neglects that many children absolutely cannot tell their parents these things. It can result in them being tortured(mental and/or physical abuse). It also negates that, the UN convention on the rights of children(which the US is the only country to not sign on to) does state that children have a right to privacy. Children are not parental property and parents are not privy to everything without the childs consent.
