I feel that langchain is the early jQuery of the AI world. It is useful if you are abstracting multiple models, less so if you are only using openAI with no vectorDB (where it may become an overhead) It is opinionated, bloated, but it works. Just like jQuery, must you use it everywhere? maybe not, but many times, if you just need that one function it supports in a chain. It is super useful to quickly get it up and running in a few lines, once you know the syntax. And perhaps once we finally figure out how AI should be used better, and what works (or not work) in langchain, we would replace the JQuery of the AI world, for something more "modern". Till then, its gonna be this giant swiss army knife ball
