Show HN: Simple passwordless authentication for your website
Solo founder here - built a passwordless authentication service after getting frustrated with the very high pricing and lack of customizability, easy passwordless authentication on existing solutions. Check it out here and let me know what you think!
- krm01 3y agoNice work on the tech. The presentation however is a bit dusty and doesn't do a good job of presenting the awesome service you've built here in a way that converts traffic into customers. I've designed a bunch of products tailored specifically to the same kind of engineer. Here are some things I've learned that apply specifically here. Perhaps it can point you in the right direction and help you present your service better: - you can probably reduce the copy by 70%. The tech is clear, and it should be faster to go from 'Oh wow this is cool' to 'ok I know how it works'. Don't underestimate the intellectual level of your target audience here. - You also don't have to say everything on the lanidngpage here's how I would restructure it: Simple OTP The world's simplest way to add One Time Passwords Magic sign-in link authentications to your website. [Then show the code that the engineer needs to implement] [Next to it you show that gif of how it works] Underneath you have the signup form. that's it. You an leave the details inside a Docs page, or in the follow up email. The goal here is to explain what you do in 10 seconds and capture that lead. Great job on the product! Hope this helps you evolve it further.
- bakatz91 3y agoThanks, appreciate the feedback! I'll see if I can simplify this and move a lot of the copy to the GitHub docs page I already have linked (in fact some of it may be duplicate info at this point)
- bakatz91 3y agoHey there, just wanted to let you know that I took your feedback seriously and tried to simplify the landing page: https://simpleotp.com https://simpleotp.com - let me know what you think.
- _august 3y agoNice! Some feedback: The gif shouldn’t end so soon and stick a little longer on the 2nd screen. Right now it’s faster than I can read. Maybe use a different email than simpleotp in the example. Perhaps a free tier for 500-1,000 active users.
- bakatz91 3y agoThanks! 1. I understand what you mean about the gif. I'll try to re-edit it now to take a bit longer on the last frame. 2. For the free tier idea: still considering whether or not I want to do this. On one hand, I know that having a free or open source tier could increase trust. On the other hand, I have recurring expenses related to this and there's already a free trial (but not completely free tier) for all plans. Will have to give this some more thought. Thanks again for the feedback, I'll update when the gif is fixed
- bakatz91 3y agoHey again _august, just wanted to let you know that I updated the gif to have a bit longer of a delay on the 2nd screen. Would you mind taking a look and letting me know if it's easier to read?
